What Australian platforms combine valuation, listing and deal management?

Two Australian platforms currently try to cover all three: BusinessSales.com.au, which pairs a free listing and watermarked data room with a Xero integration, buyer profiles and a broker practice-management suite, and bizflip, which publishes this page and runs an instant valuation, NDA, tiered data room, offer and Heads of Agreement signing in one free workflow. The big Australian boards, Bsale and SEEK Business, stop at the enquiry email. Flippa and Acquire.com combine all three for online businesses; Flippa prices in US dollars and Acquire.com's pricing page does not name its currency. Ansarada covers deal management without a marketplace.

Disclosure first: bizflip publishes this page and is one of the platforms described in it. Read what follows as a vendor's survey of its own market, check every claim against the platform pages linked in the sources, and go straight to the concessions section if you want to know where a rival is ahead.

Selling a business involves three separate jobs. Valuation is arriving at a defensible number. Listing is putting the business in front of buyers, usually without naming it. Deal management is everything after the enquiry: the NDA, the data room, the offer, the heads of agreement, the deposit and the paperwork through to settlement. business.gov.au's guide to selling sets those out as distinct steps, and most Australian platforms were built for exactly one of them. The question is which platforms join them up, and what you give up for the convenience.

Where the big Australian boards stop

SEEK Business and Bsale are advertising boards. That is not a criticism; it is what their own pages describe. SEEK Business's private seller page explains the process as create an account, write an ad, choose an advertising package and receive enquiries from potential buyers directly to your email. Registered users can access a value calculator guide, and there is no commission. Bsale's owner packages add a non-disclosure agreement and a 10-page information memorandum template at the Silver tier and above, and describe the final step as negotiating and closing the deal with the assistance of advisers. Neither runs the NDA, the data room, or the offer for you; once a buyer replies, you are working over email with your own documents.

For most private sales that is workable, and the guides on selling without a broker and what a data room is for cover how to run the deal yourself. The platforms below exist for owners and brokers who would rather not.

BusinessSales.com.au is the closest Australian rival to what bizflip is attempting, and in several respects the more established one. Its pricing table ticks an electronic confidentiality process, a secure data room and detailed buyer profiles on every tier including the free listing; its seller page describes the data room as holding financial statements and tax returns with live watermarking, and a live chat that lets you message buyers without exposing your email or phone. Its Xero App Store integration pre-populates the listing from read-only access to your financial statements and checks entity type, employee numbers and asset values, without editing anything in Xero. On valuation it offers a free consultation and, on the Gold tier, help with pricing the business, which is a human service rather than a calculator. For brokers it adds a practice-management suite with a CRM, pipelines, a bulk uploader to other portals and buyer activity reports.

Its broker page also lists Integrated Trust Account Management Software, which we have not tested. One thing we could not verify on its pages is what its free listing's 'insiders only' visibility means in practice; we have left that out rather than guess.

bizflip's compare page describes the sale running in one place: an instant valuation with the method published, an NDA, a tiered data room, the offer, Heads of Agreement signing and a deposit receipt, with the listing free and the only paid items (AI credits, listing bumps and escrow) optional and not currently charged. The valuation is on bizflip's free appraisal tool and the row-by-row comparison is on the platform comparison table. As the publisher we are not a neutral judge of either, which is why the concessions below are the part of this page to read carefully.

International platforms that combine all three for online businesses

Deal management without a marketplace

Ansarada, an Australian company, covers the deal-management job at a level built for advisers running larger transactions: a data room with role-based permissions, watermarking, document expiry, remote self-destruct, Q&A and AI sorting and redaction. It does not value or list the business. The room is free to set up and prepare, payment falls due when it goes live to external users or 90 days after creation, and the quoted prices exclude GST. If your accountant or corporate adviser is running a formal process with several bidders, this is the tool they are likely to reach for, with the listing handled separately or not at all.

Where BusinessSales.com.au and others are ahead of bizflip

BusinessSales.com.au has three concrete advantages. It has included a free data room with live watermarking on its free tier since at least 2022: the Wayback Machine's August 2022 capture of its seller page lists an inbuilt data room with live watermarking on the Free Forever tier, and its Xero App Store listing dates from May 2022. It has a published Xero App Store integration that pre-fills the listing from read-only financial data, and bizflip has no listing in the Xero App Store; a search there for 'bizflip' returns nothing. And its broker suite is a full practice-management product, built by a co-founder who is a former president of the Australian Institute of Business Brokers, with a bulk uploader that pushes listings to other portals and integrated trust account management software; bizflip's broker directory at the Australian broker directory is not yet open, the live page shows simulated sample profiles while the directory feed is wired up, and bizflip has nothing to set against a practice-management suite today. If you are a broker choosing one system for the whole firm, that is the comparison to make first.

On closing, Acquire.com's escrow is live, free and run through Escrow.com, and its buyers carry verified identity and verified funds badges; Flippa's payment rails are integrated and priced from 1%. bizflip lists escrow as an optional extra that is not charged today, which also means it is not the settled, high-volume closing rail those two have. On reach, all three of Flippa, Acquire.com and Bsale put audience figures on their pages that bizflip cannot match today.

How to choose

What none of these platforms replaces

An integrated platform removes the email chains, not the judgement. The valuation it produces is indicative; business.gov.au lists the standard methods and suggests professional advice for a number you will rely on, and the multiple a buyer will actually pay is covered in how much is my business worth. The tax outcome, including whether the sale is a GST-free going concern and whether small business CGT concessions apply, is for your accountant. The contract of sale is for your solicitor. And the accuracy of every figure a buyer sees remains your responsibility whichever platform holds the data room.
